Stop the approval of AI data center
The Issue
In our beloved community, we cherish our simple, yet fulfilling lifestyle. Many of us, including my family, rely on well water for our daily needs. It's one of the many things that knit our small community together—our shared reliance on our natural resources.
Imagine my shock and concern upon learning about the proposal to build a new AI data center here. This development threatens not just my personal life but also the entire community's well-being. A data center of this magnitude will heavily tax our water resources, which are already strained without the demands an AI center would place upon them. Our water systems are simply not equipped to handle the scale needed for such a project.
The costs involved in setting up and maintaining such a facility overshadow our existing needs. We struggle to fund a simple splash pad for our children, how then can we support or allow resources for an impressively large data deployment? An AI data center is not what our citizens desire, nor is it viable for the infrastructure we have. Our roads, utilities, and public services were never designed for such an industrial strain.
Moreover, numerous studies have shown how data centers can lead to increased water vapor emissions, contributing to local climate changes, and potentially disrupting our daily lives. The benign quiet of our peaceful town will be lost under the persistent hum of industrial machinery.
I urge our city planners and all the decision-makers to consider the lives affected by such a decision. Understand our plea not to be drowned out by the gleam of technological progress at the expense of community welfare.
Stand with me and the community as we urge our leaders to reconsider this project. Let's focus on sustainable and community-driven development, ensuring our collective future is safeguarded. Please sign this petition to halt the approval of the AI data center, for the sake of our homes, environment, and shared prosperity.
