Stop the Annexation of Hollow Road!

Stop the Annexation of Hollow Road!
The Issue
We are urging Nibley City and Cache County to block the annexation of Hollow Road!
The reasons against annexation and why it harms the community:
SAFETY:
Hollow Road is more than just a road for residents—it connects us as a community. It’s the only route for commuters, children at play, families, and even our pets and friendly wildlife.
If this annexation is approved, the proposed number of 24 homes in this subdivision threatens to add more traffic and change the road in ways that could make travel dangerous. Residents ride their horses, we have marathon runners, bikers, and dog walkers. This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about protecting the health and lives of those who live here.
ANIMAL LIFE:
Many animals live on Hollow Road, including turkeys, horses, goats, deer, elk, and pets. They all face the risk of being hit by increased traffic and harmful ecological impacts. Subdivisions take away wildlife habitats and disrupt ecosystems. These animals are part of this community as much as the residents and deserve to continue roaming freely.
AIR POLLUTION/WATER QUALITY DEGRADATION:
With higher-density development comes an increase in polluted air. An increase in vehicles emits toxins into our air, resulting in vehicle-associated air pollution.
On Hollow Road, we have existing natural springs that would be heavily impacted. Annexation leads to a higher population, which means there will be an increased use of fertilizers, pesticides, and chemicals that contaminate groundwater, and in turn will degrade the Blacksmith Fork River Watershed, which is next door to Hollow Road.
OPEN IRRIGATION DITCHES:
Hollow Road has no sidewalks, and open ditches make it risky for people and animals to escape from the road if danger arises. Drivers often go over the speed limit, and ditches take away a safe refuge to avoid accidents.
DRIVING VULNERABLE FAMILIES OUT OF THEIR HOMES:
These subdivisions are NOT affordable housing. They will be building homes that only the wealthiest in our valley can afford to purchase. Many people have been living on Hollow Road for the majority of their lives. With Hollow Road already having one of the highest property taxes in the county, the concern about higher property taxes due to annexation poses a real threat to loyal residents. Many families, especially those over 65 with fixed incomes, may struggle financially and risk losing their homes. This would change the community’s demographics and its strong spirit!
ACT NOW!
Please join us in calling on our officials to halt the annexation plans and preserve the integrity and safety of Hollow Road. Join us on January 22nd, 2026, at 6:30 pm at 4394 Hollow Road, Nibley, UT, 84321. Act now by signing this petition today and making your voice heard!
