Let’s stop the abuse of horses at West Creek Trail in San Antonio, texas. Caring deeply about animals has always been a central part of my life. The bond between humans and animals is one that should be based on mutual respect and compassion. It breaks my heart to witness the cruel treatment of horses at this business, where they are visibly suffering from neglect and abuse.

Horses are magnificent creatures, embodying grace and strength. They deserve to be treated with dignity and kindness. Unfortunately, the horses under the care of this particular facility are experiencing the opposite. They are kept in poor conditions, with inadequate care , some are kept in stalls and are lame and can’t even walk. They often appear malnourished and are clearly neglected, demonstrating behaviors that result from physical and emotional stress. Horses at this facility are ridden with saddle sores which are hidden from customers under their saddle pads. Wounds on their faces are covered up by fly masks. And they are still ridden.

Reliable eyewitness reports and photographic evidence have documented these abuses. Horses have been seen with untreated injuries, open sores, infested with maggots and signs of severe stress and exhaustion. This treatment not only violates ethical standards but also goes against animal welfare regulations, which mandate proper care, feeding, and medical attention for animals in captivity.

The current management has shown a disregard for these standards, prioritizing profit over the well-being of these animals. This neglect cannot continue. Lana Weyel (Owner of West Creek Trail Rides) has a sheriff working for her (Benji Hernandez) and he is aware of the abuse these animals go through but is covering up for her. He was conveniently the only one sent there for a welfare check and covered up for her. A horse had a gash on his face that was skin and bone and he noted no neglect seen. We need to urge local animal protection authorities to intervene, conduct a thorough investigation, and take necessary actions to ensure these animals receive proper care and attention.
