Hi All,
Apologies for the delayed update. Please understand that any perceived communication lags are not intended. It's just that I have been working with and talking to a number of you but, on the other hand, I know there are a good many of you who might like to become more involved. Let me try and figure out if there is a better way to make that happen on a larger scale as this process has proven to me that it truly does "take a village".
NOW THIS APPLICANT'S ELEPHANT DOESN'T BELONG IN A SHOEBOX: As you all know (or at least I hope you do), the applicant's request to rezone this property away from its current residential designation goes to the final step of this incredibly painful process on June 6th. Namely, the Orange County Board Of Commissioners will hear from both the applicant and the public and will make a final decision regarding whether the request is ultimately approved or, as we all hope, it is ultimately denied. NOTE: the Commissioners who will make this final decision want to hear our voices of opposition either in writing, through a phone call and especially in-person on the night of the June 6th meeting! So... for now, let's simply collectively focus on getting our letters and/or phone calls into the Commissioners explaining why you/we believe this proposed development is not an appropriate fit for the town of Hillsborough and certainly not for the immediate Lawrence Road neighborhood (or adjoining neighborhoods). Here is the information you will need to contact the County Commissioners:
Collective email (to all Commissioners): ocbocc@orangecountync.gov
Individual Commissioner email & phone contact (find the Commissioner you wish to reach out to under this weblink): https://www.orangecountync.gov/953/Board-of-County-Commissioners-BOCC
Prior comments made to all Commissioners can be viewed here (look for those related to Lawrence Road): https://groups.google.com/g/ocbocc
AGAIN... PLEASE... We have come so far in the process not to finish this job and we are only a couple of weeks away from doing just that!
Thank you and hang in there. We are counting on you.
Matt
