STOP THE 7-PERIOD A/B SCHEDULE

STOP THE 7-PERIOD A/B SCHEDULE
The Issue
In Stamford Public Schools, the superintendent is planning on changing the current 8-period A/B block schedule to 7. This schedule change will impact all three of the Stamford Public High Schools. Dr. Lucero, the superintendent stated, "...the current 8-period A-B Block student schedule is operationally and financially inefficient to operate..." This is completely false. AITE's 8-period A/B block scheduling had been working so well that it was placed across all the Stamford Public High Schools. Clearly, it is not operationally inefficient. It gives classes more in-depth time into topics, and students get more class time to work on assignments. Financially, Dr. Lucero has been solely responsible for attempting to force all teachers to teach six classes instead of five, because "the teachers have too much free-time" This ridiculous schedule is getting put in place because of the pushback Dr. Lucero received when insulting teacher's workload and efforts. Let's OPPOSE the 7-period A/B block schedule!
