I am autistic and am disabled as well as my wife. Why is it in California that landlords want you to make 3x the rent to rent a house or an apartment. 97% of residents in California  do not even make near 3x the rent. Meaning if a house or apartment is 1500 then they want you to make 4500 a month if rent is 2000 then they want you to make 6000. Most people in California do not even make that on minimum wage. If there is no change then California will stay in a place where it will just get worse and worse and then no one will ever be able to afford any place in California without making over 60,000 to 80,000 a year.

Millions of people in California are working 60 hours a week and still cannot make 3x the rent. And it is not just me. Millions of people cannot make 3x the rent. It is harder for low income and disabled people even landlords are requiring them to have 3x the rent. Landlords in California in low income neighborhoods are renting houses and apartments that are rundown studios or 1 bedroom houses or apartments at 2500 a month. Right now in California the rental cap law has been overturned meaning landlords can up the rent to as high as they want to now since they beat it in court. They can now raise the rent from $1500 a month all the way up to $8000 a month if they wanted to.

Homelessness is going to skyrocket up to 5000% because of the courts overturn of the rental cap rule. If you feel the same way as I do sign this petition so disabled children, disabled adults, families and families with disabled adults or children, and all disabled people or all other tenants can have a nice place to live without having to make over 6000 to 7000 a month just to get into a place to rent that is affordable. Disabled people and all other tenants are affected by this because they get a monthly check which is still not 3x the rent to rent anyplace. 

It is time for the disabled tenants and all tenants to step up and fight back and get our rights back and to stop getting rolled over.
