Stop the 160% Cricket Fee Hike in Brampton – Keep Cricket Affordable for Our Youth

Stop the 160% Cricket Fee Hike in Brampton – Keep Cricket Affordable for Our Youth
The Issue
We, the players, team organizers, and supporters of the cricket community in Brampton, are deeply concerned about the recent decision to increase cricket league fees by approximately 160%.
This sudden and extremely high increase has placed a major financial burden on teams and players across the city. Cricket is one of the fastest-growing sports in Brampton and serves as an important outlet for youth engagement, community building, and healthy physical activity.
Many players are students, young professionals, and families who participate in the sport to stay active and connected with the community. Implementing such a drastic fee increase — especially just before the start of the season — creates financial pressure that will force many teams and players to withdraw from participation.
At a time when many families are already facing economic challenges, this level of increase makes the sport inaccessible and discourages youth from participating in organized sports.
We respectfully request the leadership and support of Mayor Patrick Brown, along with the City of Brampton and the Brampton Cricket League, to review and reconsider this decision.
Our Requests:
Immediately cancel or reverse the 160% league fee increase.
Engage in open consultation with team captains, players, and community members before implementing major financial changes.
Ensure cricket facilities and leagues remain affordable and accessible for youth and community members in Brampton.
Cricket has played a major role in bringing diverse communities together in our city. It should continue to be an inclusive and affordable sport for everyone.
We respectfully ask the City of Brampton, the Brampton Cricket League, and Mayor Patrick Brown to support the cricket community by reversing this unfair fee increase and working toward a fair and reasonable solution.
Sign this petition to help keep cricket affordable in Brampton and to protect opportunities for youth and community participation in sports.
