The Issue
My family has proudly called Lakewood Manor in Stephens City our home for the past 38 years. We were drawn to this community for its noise-free environment, open views, and safe surroundings. The proposal to erect a 150-foot cell tower in our neighborhood threatens the very reasons that make Lakewood Manor, Lakeside and Wakeland Manor desirable and livable. The proposed cell tower construction is to be at the address of 330 Lakeside Drive in Stephens City, which is in direct, visible proximity to homes in the neighborhood. (Map provided at bottom of article)
Our community already benefits from satisfactory cell coverage, making this tower not only redundant but also potentially harmful. The introduction of the tower would bring about significant noise pollution, especially with the intermittent drone of a generator and the disruption caused by increased construction traffic. These disturbances would greatly disrupt the quiet and non-busy environment in the neighborhood.
Moreover, the looming presence of a cell tower would likely depreciate our property values, obstruct our scenic views, and adversely affect the quality of life for all residents. Such an intrusive structure doesn't belong next to homes; its rightful place is within a commercial zone, far from where families live and children play.
We feel compelled to speak out against this ill-conceived plan that could alter the landscape and environment we so love and appreciate. We respectfully and urgently ask the Frederick County Board of Supervisors to reject the Conditional Use Permit for this tower and request the applicant to consider its location in a more industrial or commercial area. Join us in safeguarding our neighborhood from unnecessary industrial intrusion. Preserve the serenity, value, and safety of Lakewood Manor, Lakeside and Wakeland Manor by demanding that the proposed cell tower be relocated to a more suitable commercial area. Your support is crucial in keeping our community intact.
Please show your support by signing this petition and voting to help us protect our homes and environment from this unwanted development. The Board of Supervisors meeting and vote for this issue was originally scheduled for September 10 at 7 pm. The meeting and vote has been postponed. Will update when new date is posted. The meeting will remain at the Frederick County Administration building (107 N . Kent Street Winchester, VA) Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our beloved neighborhood remains a haven for its residents.
