Stop the 125 foot cell tower in our Ocean City residential area!

Stop the 125 foot cell tower in our Ocean City residential area!
The Issue
UPDATE:
Unfortunately, the City has moved ahead with the cell tower location at yesterday’s Planning Board meeting — despite the serious concerns raised by neighbors.
We are not done fighting for our cherished neighborhood and the families that live here.
We must now move forward with legal action to appeal the decision. From what we understand, this will cost a minimum of $10,000 in legal fees. This is why we need the community’s help now more than ever.
If this tower is built, it will affect our neighborhood, our homes, our views, our property values, and the future of how decisions like this are made in Ocean City. Legal action is our next and strongest step — but we cannot do it without financial support.
We have created a GoFundMe page, and all donations will go directly toward attorney fees to help us fight this project.
Please consider donating whatever you can. Every contribution helps. You may also donate anonymously through GoFundMe. Please note there is a default “tip” setting on GoFundMe, but you can change that amount to zero.
Below is the GoFundMe link. Please donate, share widely, and help us continue this fight for our neighborhood. THANK YOU for your support!

As citizens and parents who deeply care about the safety and well-being of our community, we are sounding the alarm about the proposed construction of an 125 foot cellphone tower in our residential area. If this project moves forward, it will be placed dangerously close to our homes and airport—- immediately affecting the quality of life for families and neighbors and permanently changing our community. It also threatens to reduce the value of our homes up to 30%, an investment many of us have worked tirelessly to build.
We are especially alarmed by the proposed site’s proximity to the airport. Placing a tall, lit structure near active flight paths introduces avoidable safety risks that should not be brushed aside or fast-tracked. Aviation safety must be treated as non-negotiable, including a rigorous review of tower height, obstruction lighting, and visibility—particularly during low-visibility weather and night operations. With well-documented national concerns about wireless signals and their safe coexistence with aviation systems, our community cannot afford a “build first, fix later” approach. This tower should not proceed unless and until a thorough, transparent safety evaluation confirms there is no added risk to pilots, passengers, and residents.
The construction of this tower poses significant aesthetic and economic concerns. A robust study published by the "National Institute for Science, Law & Public Policy" showed that property values could decrease 20-30% if a cellphone tower is nearby. For most of our community members, our homes are our most significant investment!
We propose a more suitable solution: relocating the tower outside nearby residential zones to areas where it minimizes impact on families and properties, yet still serves its purpose. City planning should also consider alternative technologies which are less intrusive to residents but provide the necessary network enhancements.
Our homes should remain safe sanctuaries free from unnecessary health risks and financial devaluation. We are urgently calling on city leaders and all decision-makers to halt any approvals, permits, or construction activity until there is a full public review of the risks and alternatives. Together, we can find a solution that protects both our health and our homes.
Please sign and share this petition today. Time matters—once approvals are granted or construction begins, the damage may be difficult or impossible to undo. Your support is critical to urging local authorities to stop the proposed tower in our cherished neighborhood and require a safer, more responsible location.
Please donate, any amount helps!
