Stop Texas From Executing Robert Robertson: A Possibly Innocent Man

Stop Texas From Executing Robert Robertson: A Possibly Innocent Man
The Issue
Robert Roberson is scheduled to be executed on October 16, 2025, for the 2002 death of his two-year-old daughter, Nikki. But serious doubts about his guilt—and the discredited science used to convict him—make this execution not just wrong, but dangerous.
Robert has spent more than two decades on death row insisting he is innocent. His daughter had been sick for days with a high fever. She was prescribed medications that are now banned for children her age. On the day she was rushed to the hospital, doctors declared her brain dead—but prosecutors claimed her symptoms were caused by “shaken baby syndrome,” a diagnosis now widely rejected by medical experts.
Today, even scientists who once supported that theory agree it was misunderstood. Yet Robert’s conviction still stands. His legal team and the Innocence Project say they have new scientific evidence proving Nikki's death was accidental, not the result of abuse. But instead of allowing time for that evidence to be reviewed, Texas has set an execution date.
Let’s be clear: no one is asking for Robert to walk free. His attorneys are asking for a fair trial—one based on today’s science, not debunked claims from 2003.
The same Texas lawmakers—Republican and Democrat—who delayed his execution last year are still fighting for him. But now, with time running out, we need the public to speak up. Because if the state of Texas executes Robert Roberson before his appeal is fully heard, we risk killing an innocent man.
We call on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the Governor of Texas, and all responsible decision-makers to stay the execution and grant Robert Roberson a new trial.
Justice should never be rushed. And it should never be based on junk science.
Sign this petition to demand a retrial before it's too late.
