STOP TEMPLE DATA CENTERS - UNTIL WE HAVE FULL ACCOUNTABILITY.

STOP TEMPLE DATA CENTERS - UNTIL WE HAVE FULL ACCOUNTABILITY.
The Issue
The deal with META and Rowan Digital Infrastructure is no longer just a local discussion; it is a community risk with regional and statewide implications. The rapid expansion of large-scale data centers across Texas, as noted in a recent Texas GOP resolution, warns of the increasing strain on our electric grid and the mounting pressure on our limited water supplies. These concerns are now formally recognized in the state record. The state resolution calls for enforceable safeguards, transparency, independent impact assessments, and local resource sustainability.
We are not here to impede growth. Rather, we advocate for risk-proportional responsibility. Large-scale projects bring substantial benefits but also pose significant demands on local infrastructure. If a project places demands on our grid, our water, and other shared resources, then it's imperative that it also shares in the responsibility for maintaining these essential services.
META and Rowan Digital Infrastructure must take accountability for the potential risks their expansion presents to our community and our state. Heavy water usage and energy consumption could lead to shortages affecting us all. It's not just about business progress; it's about sustainable growth that respects the communities impacted by it.
Our requests are simple:
- META and Rowan Digital Infrastructure must implement measures that mitigate its impact on our resources. Including guarantees on grid time, full shutdowns during crisis times, and zero additional water usage even when temperatures are over 80 degrees.
- A direct community return - at least 10% of the project's value, approximately 150M, invested in a trust for our local schools, non-profits, and workforce development. This fund would also be held as a deposit for any unfulfilled promises or damages to our community.
- Mandatory shutdown during grid stress events. This facility shuts down completely before a single Temple household or business loses power.
- Citizens First Recover - Temple homes and businesses are restored before Meta, Rowan, or any future data center turns on production or servers.
This must go into effect before they continue. META is now in court for Predatory Tech, and Rowan is owned by a group in Australia. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE OR SEND THEM HOME. We, Central Texans, will not sacrifice our permanent water supply and grid for temporary money.
