Goovigen is a very tiny country town in the Callide Valley in Central Queensland.  For some reason TELSTRA has decided to place a 5G Cell Tower directly in front of my home where I live with my wife and 5 year old son.  In total there are only 6 home owners around the tower with the balance of the homes in the town at least 500 metres from the tower site. 

  None of the 6 home owners want the tower there yet this means nothing to TELSTRA who say they want it there as this is the most cost effective site. 

  The Banana Shire Council has refused to speak out against it and have abandoned us in favor of big business.

  I am the third generation in this house and my Dad and Grandad will be turning in their graves at what is happening here now.  My Grandad fought for this country in New Guinea and was one of the first settlers here in Goovigen and dedicated his life to this community as did my Dad.

  TELSTRA state they are complying with safety standards set by ARPANSA. 

ARPANSA have a disclaimer on their own website, stating not to rely on the information provided by them.  ARPANSA in this disclaimer state we should get independent advice from our own Health practitioners.  That they will not accept liability for the information as it pertains to the impact of radiation on health.

  ARPANSA has set standards 100 times higher than most other countries.   ARPANSA safety limits are set at 1000 microwatts per cm2, up to 300GHz.  This was set in 2002 against an Australian senate committee recommendation of 200 microwatts per cm2 in 2001.

  Despite the fact that many other cocuntries such as China, Russia, Bulgaria and Poland set the limt at 10 microwatts/cm2, Switzerland sets their safety standard even lower at 9.5 microwatts/cm2 and in sensitive areas at 4.25 and parts of Austria set the safety limit even lower at .0001 microwatts/cm2.

  In Australia, the Evaluation of the "safe" EME levels as set by ARPANSA, have been openly funded using Fianancial support from the Mobile Carriers Forum (Telstra, Optus, vodapone, TPG).

When asked to issue in writing that this tower would be safe and not harm my child they refused.  They cannot guarantee the safety of the tower because they know it is not safe, it's all about money.

  Babies and Children have skulls that are not fully formed and are at the most risk form EME radiation which increases the risk of Leukemia.

  There are thousands of peer reviewed studies all proving that these non-ionising radiation waves are harmful to all life and in particular to our young children.

  We also have a primary/kindergarten school 150 metres from the site.  Why does Tesltra want to put a tower in such a small country town right beside a handful of houses and a school?
