Stop teaching gender and marriage concepts to young Australian kids

Stop teaching gender and marriage concepts to young Australian kids
The issue
Kids who don't know how to speak yet, nor write, are being informed about their gender and whether it's okay to align with it. This seems completely unreasonable and an overreach for the government to include such topics in the curriculum for children aged 5 and under.
The government has taken a step too far by integrating lessons on same-sex marriage and gender awareness into the learning plans for our youngest, most impressionable children. At such a tender age, when their most paramount concerns should be play and basic skill development, introducing complex concepts about identity and relationships disregards their natural developmental needs.
Statistically, early childhood is a period for foundational learning—language, motor skills, and basic socialization. According to child development experts, the focus at this stage should be on improving these fundamental skills rather than challenging them with topics that are too intricate for their current level of cognitive engagement.
Why should we allow the curriculum for preschoolers to stray from these well-established priorities? Certainly, every child will encounter teaching moments about acceptance and diversity, but these should be positioned at an appropriate time in their education journey.
Parents have a right to feel confident about the content their kids are exposed to in schools. We must insist on a curriculum that supports an age-appropriate approach focused on fortifying essential early developmental milestones.
It’s crucial to stand up for the rights of parents and the well-being of our children.
Join us in urging our Department of Education to limit these teachings in early childhood classrooms and preserve the innocence of early childhood education. Sign the petition to remove lessons on same-sex marriage and gender identity awareness from the curriculum for kids under age 5.
