Stop Taxing Citizens for Having Multiple Jobs

The Issue

I am a widow, forced to work multiple jobs due to the tragic loss of my husband to suicide. This is not a choice made out of luxury or desire, but out of sheer necessity. Like many others in similar situations, I am struggling just to pay my bills.

The government's current policy taxes us for having more than one job. This additional financial burden makes it even harder for individuals like me who are already grappling with the harsh realities of life. It feels like we are being penalized for trying to survive.

Adding insult to injury, when we fall behind on these unfair taxes, the council adds court costs and treats us as criminals rather than citizens in need. They even threaten our means of transportation - the very thing that enables us to work these multiple jobs.

According to a report by The Guardian (2019), around 1.7 million people in the UK have more than one job - not out of choice but necessity - and this number is rising each year due largely in part because wages have failed to keep up with living costs.

while they get our money to pay for champagne and subsidised their meals and second home and in some cases even pay for their bath plugs.

We urge our government officials and policymakers: Stop taxing citizens who are working multiple jobs out of necessity! Instead, let's focus on creating policies that support those struggling financially rather than exacerbating their hardship.
