The Issue

Our community in Smith Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, is a beautiful, rural haven that we cherish deeply. Life in our township is characterized by serene surroundings, lush landscapes, and a tranquil atmosphere that fosters peace and community spirit. This is why we are alarmed and deeply saddened by the proposal to introduce a massive solar array into our environment by Susquehanna Solar, which would alter the character of our community drastically.

The proposed solar array threatens to transform our picturesque township into a site of industrial energy production. But it should not come at the expense of our community's rural charm and quality of life. Our open fields, rich biodiversity, and noise-free environment are treasures that cannot be quantified. They support not only our mental and physical

Committing to this project would mean embracing profound changes that many of us are not ready to accept. We fear the impact on property values, the potential for increased traffic and noise pollution, and the disruption of local wildlife habitats. Additionally, the aesthetic degradation this project could bring is antithetical to the values we hold dear as a community.

We believe there are alternative locations more suited for such projects that would not infringe upon a residential area.

Our request is simple but heartfelt: keep Smith Township the peaceful, rural community we love. We urge our local decision-makers, our attorney and the judge to consider carefully the voices of residents who call this place home. It's imperative to balance sustainable development with community and ecological preservation.

Please sign this petition to help preserve the beauty and tranquility of Smith Township, Washington County, and to stop Susquehanna Solar’s plan to build their solar array here. Your support can help ensure that our home remains a beacon of rural serenity, untouched by industrial overdevelopment.
