Golf tour operator, Fairways and Fundays, is being urged to remove cruel greyhound racing from its Ireland itinerary.
On its website, the company presents greyhound racing as “a fantastic alternative night out” saying it “provides an evening of fast-paced excitement and fun”. https://www.fairwaysandfundays.com/activities-ireland/greyhound-racing-evening/
A tweet posted at the weekend, provided details of a tour, including “End day 1 with a Night at the Dogs at Shelbourne Park”.
In an email to the company, ICABS pointed out the cruelty and killing involved in the nasty greyhound industry. We highlighted the recent RTE Investigates documentary which revealed that 6,000 greyhounds are killed each year because they are not fast enough to win races. It showed dogs being brought to a knackery to be shot in the head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYTb2qBjlMM
We are appealing to Fairways and Fundays to follow Thomas Cook/Jet Tours which removed Shelbourne Park from its Ireland itinerary and Failte Ireland which removed Shelbourne Park from its "Meet in Ireland" business tourism website.
A growing number of companies are saying NO to greyhound racing, including Barry's Tea, FBD Insurance, Botanica International, Hyde Irish Whiskey, Tesco Ireland, Toyota Ireland, Electric Ireland, Applegreen, Galway Crystal, etc
ACTION ALERT
Urge Fairways and Fundays to show compassion for the dogs and remove greyhound racing from its itinerary.
