Stop Suicide - Install Netting or Higher Fences on Lake Murray Dam
The Issue
On December 26th, 2022 my father Russell Patrick Spence committed suicide, he was an amazing Father, Son, Co-Worker, Friend, Cousin and many more. My dad was a 1985 graduate of Clemson University, where he ran track, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economic Biology. Upon graduation, my dad began his professional career, which culminated in his position as Senior Director - Western North America Division of ChemTreat, Inc. - Danaher Corporation, Riverton, Wyoming.
My dad will be remembered as a loving father and avid sportsman. He loved Wyoming and all it had to offer. Numerous friends and family have great memories of hunting, fishing and camping trips with him as their host and guide.
I would love to have netting or higher fences installed on the Lake Murray dam to try to help people who are suffering with depression to not make that last step.
“Russell was such a light to so many in this dark world, always with a smile, a political commentary or a quick joke. A world that, as big a personality as he was, overwhelmed him. He fought the battle many of us fight daily. Sadly, his story here on earth, ended in defeat.
However, his ultimate story does not end here! He left behind 5 wonderful and beautiful children, Gray, Rebecca, Julianne, Jackson and Dakota, and one grandson, Holden, who will carry his life and legacy forward here on earth.
His spirit soars in heaven as he is reunited with his brother, Michael, who he was so very close to here on earth, and his father, Alan, Sr. He leaves behind in loss and grief, his mother, Kitty, and 2 older brothers, Alan, Jr. and Jimmy, who will miss him and think of him every single day. He has left a huge void in their hearts as well as many of ours.”
