STOP street sweeping in Portico West HOA North Las Vegas

The Issue

I would like to share a personal anecdote: I have had my vehicle towed on two occasions due to the street sweeping schedule, despite observing no discernible improvement in the cleanliness of our streets. This experience underscores a larger issue within our community that I believe we should collectively address. Furthermore, a senior citizen in our neighborhood had her in-home care nurse's clearly marked company vehicle, identified as belonging to Dignity Health, towed without apparent consideration.

The regular street sweeping within our Portico Homeowners Association (HOA) by Regal Management has, in my opinion, become more of an inconvenience than an advantage, especially when vehicles are impounded without due regard for residents' circumstances. It is challenging to reconcile the difficulties and disruptions residents encounter with the minimal evidence of enhanced street cleanliness..

Many of my neighbors, in fact, share these concerns and frustrations. Street sweeping should ideally enhance the quality of life within our community, rather than detracting from it. I have spoken with numerous neighbors who express frustration regarding the current street cleaning practices. I believe there is certainly a more effective way to utilize our residents' $95 HOA fee for street sweeping, as the current method seems to primarily inconvenience residents. Therefore, we are requesting that the HOA reconsider and ultimately suspend the current street sweeping schedule until a more effective solution can be developed.

It is important to acknowledge the economic impact this situation has on residents. The expense associated with retrieving a towed vehicle can often be substantial, leading to unnecessary financial strain for families. This becomes even more disheartening when the supposed street cleaning appears to leave our roads in a similar state of clutter as before. I have taken before and after pictures and there is virtually no difference. It simply blows the debris onto your property, and the wind eventually returns it to the street. I suggest allocating funds towards enhancing the appearance of the parks and power washing the stains, rather than sweeping the streets.

We respectfully urge our HOA to prioritize the genuine needs of its residents and to devise a plan that is both effective in maintaining our streets and considerate of the sacrifices required from the individuals who reside in this community.

I invite you to join me in signing this petition, as together we can encourage a change that will positively impact our daily lives. Your support is essential in ensuring our voices are heard.
