Zachary Thomas Nehus, former elementary school teacher at St. Johns Catholic School, was arrested in 2014 and charged with 30 counts involving child pornography. Nehus pled guilty in 2016 to 10 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. The jury determined his sentence that would total 24 years. Nehus’ charges were reduced down to 10 counts and Nehus “got a gift” when they only prosecuted 10. The state reminded the court that “there were videos that the jury had to endure at trial” and the images involved were “disgusting.’ Those involved with the case have echoed the sentiment that the images that Nehus was charged with continue to haunt them and will live with them for the rest of their lives. One close to the case said the material was so disturbing and graphic that they “had to seek out professional counseling” after the case was over. Circuit Judge John Homer Wright eventually ruled the states arguments were correct and dismissed the improper appeal. Nehus was booked in on April 1st 2016 and was released October 18th, 2022, paroled after serving only 6 years of his 24 year sentence handed down by a jury. Nehus is on probation until February 28th, 2040. He has not registered as a sex offender to date as required in the sentencing order. His wife Stephanie Nehus, is Superintendent of Hot Springs School District, where their children go to school, and Zachary attends their children’s school events and helps with school functions regularly . People involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case were so traumatized by the content on his computer they are haunted by the imagines or needed professional help to get over the reoccurring trauma of seeing what happened to the victim(s) but he is out on parole, has not fulfilled his requirement to register as a sex offender, and is being allowed to attend HSSD school events by his wife the superintendent!! He is clearly bypassing policy put in place to protect kids with the help of his wife. He doesn’t need to be around children period and his wife needs to resign immediately, if she lets him go to her job. SIGN IF YOU THINK STEPHANIE NEHUS SHOULD RESIGN AND ZACHARY NEHUS SHOULD BE REGISTERED AS A SEX OFFENDER AND NEVER AROUND CHILDREN AGAIN!!
