STOP South Tyneside Council's Installation of Lampposts on the Coast Road

STOP South Tyneside Council's Installation of Lampposts on the Coast Road
The Issue
As you maybe aware South Tyneside Council are in the process of trying to install 40 x 10m tall lampposts all along the Coast Road/Leas.
The Leas are one of the borough's jewels in it's crown attracting visitors not only from Tyneside but further afield to enjoy wide open space, outstanding coastline ,wildlife ,dark skies and even the amazing Aurora Borealis.
Local residents have complained that this has been done without consultation and that the lamps are a totally unnecessary addition to the Leas detracting from the beauty of the coast line and will dramatically and detrimentally effect our dark sky and local wildlife. We have been able to get the works paused temporarily for now but NEED your support !
If you are interested in petitioning the council objecting to the lighting before these works proceed any further and permantly change the coastal landscape please sign above.
