We need your help to protect the heart of our Powell community! Developer Smithbilt is pushing forward with plans to build yet another pizza restaurant and a new ice cream shop off of W Emory Rd in the new Belltown subdivision.

Let's be clear: Powell has enough pizza places. Adding one more isn't just unnecessary, it's harmful. This proposed pizza restaurant poses a direct threat to Pizza Hoss Powell. The dedicated owners of Pizza Hoss are residents of the Belltown subdivision, which Smithbilt knows. Allowing Smithbilt to build another pizza restaurant, when they know that Pizza Hoss is one mile down the road, will drastically hurt the business and livelihood of the Pizza Hoss owners.

As if that weren't enough, Smithbilt also wants to add an ice cream shop. This move will directly compete with NikNaks Ice Cream, a beloved local ice cream shop literally one mile up the street. Why undermine an existing, successful local business?

This development isn't progress; it's a direct threat to established, locally-owned businesses run by members of the Belltown neighborhood and surrounding Powell neighborhoods. Please join us in signing this petition NOW to tell Smithbilt that we as a community stand with Pizza Hoss Powell and NikNaks Ice Cream. We must prevent Smithbilt from building something that is not only redundant but not needed.

Let’s focus our energy on encouraging Smithbilt to develop things Powell does not have like sit-down restaurants (i.e. Calhouns, Farmacy, Abridged) or indoor play facilities for kids.  Help us protect the small businesses that define our Powell community and continue to give back to the community they love so much.
