CHEERS Supporters!

Time to toast to another court victory, we are still waging the war against the developers, but we one a major battle today!

We have reached a major milestone in our effort to stop the Sierra Reflections development.

On March 6, 2026, a Notice of Lis Pendens was officially recorded with the Washoe County Recorder under Document No. 5605849. This notice places approximately 760 acres associated with the Sierra Reflections project under formal public notice of active federal litigation.

This is a significant step forward for our coalition and for everyone who cares about protecting Washoe and Pleasant Valleys.

What This Means
A recorded Lis Pendens places formal notice in the county land records that the property is the subject of pending federal litigation.

This means that anyone researching the title—including potential buyers, investors, lenders, or title companies—will see that these parcels are connected to an ongoing court case in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.

The notice provides constructive legal notice to the public that any interest acquired in these properties may be affected by the outcome of the litigation.

While additional legal proceedings are ongoing, the recording of the Lis Pendens ensures that the dispute surrounding this development is now permanently reflected in the public land records.

Volunteer Process Server Needed
We are seeking a volunteer process server to assist with serving legal papers in the case.

Currently, I have filed an Application to Proceed In Forma Pauperis (pauper’s oath) with the court, which would allow service through the U.S. Marshal’s Service once approved. However, we are still awaiting the judge’s decision.

Hiring a private professional process server was quoted at approximately $2,000.

Why the Cost Is So High
This case involves 19 defendants who must each be formally served with legal papers. Process servers typically charge per individual served, which is why the total estimate reached approximately $2,000.

A volunteer who meets the legal requirements could help us avoid this expense and allow our limited resources to remain focused on protecting Washoe and Pleasant Valleys.

Requirements for Service
To ensure service is legally valid:

• The volunteer must be 18 years of age or older
• The volunteer cannot be a party to the case

The following individuals should not serve the papers:

• Employees of Washoe County
• Employees of the State of Nevada
• Employees or representatives of the developer
• Anyone directly involved in the litigation including Washoe tribal members

Anyone who owns property in 89704, 89521 & 89511

If you are able to help with this important task, please contact us.

Thank You
Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition, shared updates, contributed support, and stood with our community.

Every step forward strengthens our ability to protect the land, water, and cultural resources of Washoe and Pleasant Valleys.

Together, we are making a difference. Special thanks to our passionate and knowledgeable neighbor Mark Ashworth!
