I started this petition with high hopes to stop the shaler area school district from implementing this “gender support” plan.

 The idea to make bathrooms unisex raises serious concerns about privacy, safety, and comfort for many students. Traditional gender-segregated bathrooms provide a safe and private space where individuals can feel secure and respected. Unisex bathrooms, on the other hand, can create discomfort and anxiety, particularly for those who have experienced harassment or assault.

Additionally, parents were never notified of this “plan” It's important for the school board to inform parents about plans beforehand so that everyone is aware and can be involved in decisions that affect the students. When parents are informed, they can provide valuable input and understand the changes. Open communication builds trust and collaboration between the school and families, creating a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone involved, Shaler area has failed at that.
