Atlantic salmon farms are causing harmful impacts to wild salmon populations through interactions with open pen aquaculture.  Wild fish populations that should be food for wild salmon are ground into pellets for farmed salmon feed. Many viruses, diseases and sea lice bred in the farms affect wild populations negatively.

This petition is in support of the much larger tourism industry in British Columbia, the commercial fishing industry, recreational fishing, overall ecological integrity and biodiversity of the marine ecosystems, our health, and most importantly the wishes of the vast majority of First Nations opposed to Atlantic Salmon farms in Canada. 

Many other options that support Canadian businesses exist for healthy and sustainable food. Farmed salmon is some of the most toxic protein on the planet and the last thing we want to be serving our sick and elderly. Let’s put a stop to farmed salmon in hospitals.
