I am a cardiac arrest survivor, and I owe my life to the quick response of paramedics and EMS. Today, I stand before you with a plea to protect the very institution that saved me - Pike Township Fire Department. Senate Bill 54 threatens to merge our local fire department into Indianapolis FD without giving Pike any say in the matter. 

This consolidation will not only displace nearly 50 employees but also dissolve our Preventative Services department. This department plays a crucial role in maintaining safety standards and preventing potential disasters within our community. Moreover, there is a looming threat of reducing active ambulances in Pike Township due to this merger. 

In an emergency, every second counts. The reduction in ambulance services could mean life or death for someone like me who once needed immediate medical attention. It's not just about saving jobs; it's about saving lives. 

We must stand together as residents of Pike Township, Indianapolis, IN, USA against SB 54 Fire Consolidation! Let us preserve the independence of Pike Township Fire Department and ensure they continue providing their invaluable services without interruption or compromise. The bill is authored by 2 Senators whose districts do not include Marion County!!
