The Issue

Baltimore County, home to many hardworking American families, is on the brink of critical decisions with the impending bills 97-25 and 98-25. These bills, if passed, threaten to make our county a sanctuary for illegal aliens, diverting essential resources away from residents who are already struggling to make ends meet.

Picture this: Veterans who have served our country are living in tents, families are grappling with soaring energy bills, and yet, resources that could help them are promised elsewhere. While compassion and generosity define the American spirit, our first priority must be to the safety, security, and well-being of our citizens.

Bill 97-25 and Bill 98-25 aim to allocate significant local resources to undocumented immigrants. This includes potential strains on our healthcare system, housing, and law enforcement, all of which are financed by our tax dollars. But what happens to our own residents who desperately need this support? When Baltimore County families cannot secure basic needs, is it fair to direct already stretched resources elsewhere?

There are over 800,000 residents in Baltimore County, many of whom are facing increased unemployment rates and higher cost of living post-pandemic. The county has a duty to prioritize these individuals, to support them through difficult times, to ensure they aren't edged out by policies that don’t put them first.

These bills, rather than bringing relief, risk exacerbating existing challenges. Instead, let's advocate for responsible governance that targets assistance to those struggling internally, addresses homelessness among veterans, and offers reasonable support reform—without overstretching the infrastructure that our residents rely upon.

I urge the Baltimore County Council to reconsider the direction these bills are taking us. Channel the resources towards uplifting our community first. Let’s craft policies that protect our most vulnerable residents, ensuring no family is left behind.

Please join me in taking a stand to safeguard our community's future. Sign this petition to stop bills 97-25 and 98-25, and urge local leaders to focus on sustainable solutions for Baltimore County’s real needs.
