Roblox was never meant to be a dating site.

We, the undersigned members of the Roblox community — players, developers, parents, and fans — are deeply concerned by CEO David Baszucki’s repeated statements and strategic decisions that push Roblox in a direction it was never intended to go: a virtual space for dating and romantic connection.

David has publicly stated, more than once, his vision for Roblox to become a place where people “form romantic relationships” and “fall in love.” In a platform originally built on creativity, coding, and play — and where the majority of users are still minors — this direction is not only inappropriate, but dangerous.

We are alarmed by the push toward:

Promoting romantic interaction on a platform with an underage majority
Weak and inconsistent content moderation that already struggles with inappropriate behavior
Encouraging “dating-friendly” experiences without sufficient safeguards or demand from the community

Undermining Roblox’s reputation as a game engine and creative space for all ages
Shifting the focus from creation and community to social connection and adult content

Roblox has seen massive success not because people want to date, but because they want to create, imagine, and play together. This new direction threatens everything that makes Roblox special and puts users — especially younger ones — at risk.

We are not calling for David Baszucki’s resignation out of dislike or drama. We are calling for it because he no longer represents the values or vision that this platform was built on. Roblox deserves leadership that prioritizes safety, creativity, and the community’s voice — not one that quietly shifts the platform toward unsafe and unwanted territory.

We demand a change in leadership.

We urge the Board of Directors to remove David Baszucki as CEO and realign Roblox with the values it was founded on.

Let Roblox be a platform for imagination, not intimacy.
