Good Afternoon Fellow residents, Shop Patrons and Petition Supporters

This is one residents email sent  to  RMS and the reply received

Dear Sir/Madam;

I am writing to you in regards to the proposed upgrade of Hoxton Park Road from Banks Road to Cowpasture Road, West Hoxton that would result in the closure of the right turn in and right turn out lanes to and from the Shopping Village at the intersection of Hoxton Park Road and Dorrigo Ave Hoxton Park.

Having lived at my address for over 25 years, my concern is this will reduce the ability to access the Shopping Village and will push traffic into the residential streets to get to the Shopping Village. During morning peak/school zone hours, the local streets are already congested from having five schools in the area where three of the five schools in Hoxton Park are located inside the estate. The traffic to exit my estate via First Ave can already be back as far as the roundabout on Pacific Palms Circuit and Nineteenth Ave and any extra traffic will have a significant impact to the local residential streets behind the Shopping Village.

Also by reducing the access to the Shopping Village in Hoxton Park would be a disaster for the Shop Owners that for many decades have provided their service to residents of the area and would turn these shops and the village into a ghost town.

 Regards;

REPLY RECEIVED FROM RMS

Thank you for your email regarding the Hoxton Park Road upgrade.

 The changes to access for Dorrigo Avenue have been proposed as part of the Strategic Design due to the increase to three lanes. This would require road users making right hand turns to and from Dorrigo Avenue onto Hoxton Park Road to cross three lanes traffic travelling at 70km/h, which would be unsafe.

 This project is in the early stages of development and no commitment will be made without further consultation with the community and collaboration with Liverpool Council as the project moves into the next stage of development, the Concept Design and environmental assessment.

Regards,

 Project Team Hoxton Park Road upgrade

This is a standard cut and paste answer that is not quite true.

Firstly it will not be 3 lanes of traffic but 2 lanes of traffic plus a dedicated bus lane with buses running on a regular basis but certainly not every minute.

Secondly the RMS seems to forget about the 40 KPH School Zone limit from before the First Ave Lights until you get in front of the shops.

And also the fact that the lights at First Ave provide regular breaks in traffic when they turn red on Hoxton Park Road.

All in All it appears that once again RMS don’t want to listen to the residents or Business Owners when making decisions.

I will keep you updated on further information as it comes to hand.

Yours Sincerely

Michael Andjelkovic JP
