Good Morning Fellow Residents, Shop Patrons and Petition Supporters

Unfortunately it appears that our Voices are falling on Deaf Ears and are not being Listened to.

After a number of emails being sent to the Department of Transport and the petition with over 1200 Signatures being Lodged with the Minister for Transport the answer is essentially the same.

Terry McSweeney Principal Manager Ministerial Correspondence

Elani Petinos Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads and

Andrew Constance Minister for Transports and Roads all claim that….

It would be unsafe for drivers to cross three lanes of traffic travelling at up to 70 km/h.

This is despite the fact that the following information has been pointed out to the Department of Transport a number of times so far

1) There is a regular break in traffic caused by the Lights at First Ave.

2) The current 40 KPH School zone from before First Ave until the Scout Hall.

3) All the other right turn intersections across 3 lanes of traffic in Liverpool.

5) and finally the extension of the 40 kph school zone for St Joseph trade school currently under construction.

For Your Information here is the complete letter sent to me from Terry McSweeney Principal Manager Ministerial Correspondence sent to me

Dear Mr Andjelkovic

Thank you for your correspondence to the Minister for Transport and Roads about the proposed changes to the Hoxton Park Road and Dorrigo Avenue intersection, Hoxton Park.

As you may appreciate, the Minister receives thousands of items of correspondence each year. Transport for NSW is therefore responding to you directly.

I appreciate the reasons which prompted you to write.

I am advised that the Hoxton Park Road upgrade project team at Transport for NSW

responded to you on 17 July 2020. As you were advised, Transport for NSW has confirmed that no commitments to the development of Hoxton Park Road will be made without further consultation with the community and collaboration with Liverpool City Council. This will apply as the project moves into the next stage of development, the concept design and environmental assessment.

The proposed Hoxton Park Road upgrade is part of the NSW Government's plan to link residents and businesses along the corridor by establishing rapid bus services. Two bus lanes are planned to be installed along Hoxton Park Road. However, this will remove space for a right-turn lane. You may be pleased to know, Transport for NSW will consider signage to improve awareness of businesses at the shopping centre.

Changes to the intersection aim to improve motorist safety and traffic flow efficiency. The proposed changes include a left-in and left-out access for Dorrigo Avenue. However, a right-in and right-out for Dorrigo Avenue would require drivers to cross three lanes of traffic travelling at 70 km/h and would be unsafe.

Consultation about the proposed changes included information sessions, door knocks and stakeholder briefings. The Community Consultation Report is available at rms.nsw.gov.au/projects/hoxton-park-road/index.html.

In response to community feedback, Transport for NSW did a further traffic study which revealed that the average peak hour right-turn movement from Hoxton Park Road onto Dorrigo Avenue is 48, and the average right-turn movement from Dorrigo Avenue onto Hoxton Park Road is 41. These traffic movements are too low to warrant a signalised intersection. Further, more traffic congestion on Hoxton Park Road may result if traffic lights were installed.

Please be assured Transport for NSW is committed to working closely with Council to find the best transport solutions for the people of Liverpool.

I trust this information is of assistance.

Yours sincerely
