Implementing a fine on the new Sakonnet Bridge will not only negatively affect the local economy by forcing tourists to think twice before spending $8 to come down to Newport County but will leave daily commuters from up north to seek alternate routes, congesting local roads. This will only leave the locals to bear the heaviest burden, especially the Island residents who have to commute upstate every day for work and school.
