STOP: Resolution: 25-158: Declares Lewis County (WA) a Non-Sanctuary County

The Issue

Oppose Resolution 25-158: Protect Our Community from Fear and Injustice proposed by Commissioner Sean Swope

We must come together to stop Resolution Number 25-158, which seeks to declare Lewis County a non-sanctuary city. This proposal will not make our community safer—it will spread fear and injustice among our neighbors, friends, and families.

We are being told that immigration enforcement targets only criminals, but the reality we’re witnessing shows otherwise. Hardworking people—mothers, fathers, business owners, and community members—are being torn from their homes and places of work. This resolution opens the door for more of the same cruelty.

Our community thrives because of immigrants. From local restaurants to labor-intensive industries, immigrants contribute daily to the success and vibrancy of Lewis County. Immigrants are not threats—they are people who care for their families, contribute to the economy, and enrich the culture of our towns.

Ask yourself: why would we want to drive out people who are making our community stronger? Why would we support policies that traumatize children, tear families apart, and make people too afraid to even leave their homes?

We must not support a resolution that aligns Lewis County with inhumane, large-scale deportation efforts happening across the nation. Instead, we should strive to be a place of compassion, safety, and unity.

Say NO to Resolution 25-158. Stand up for dignity. Stand up for our community.
