Republicans are trying to sneak $1 billion for Trump's White House ballroom into a bill meant to fund immigration enforcement.

That's not security spending. That's a slush fund.

The Trump administration is pushing a $70 billion party-line bill to fund ICE and Customs and Border Protection through the rest of his presidency. Buried inside it: $1 billion for the Secret Service tied to the White House's East Wing "modernization project" — otherwise known as Trump's ballroom renovation. The administration claims the ballroom itself is being paid for by private donors. But taxpayers are being asked to cover $1 billion in "security infrastructure" for it.

This is the same project Sen. Elizabeth Warren says went from $200 million in donor money to $1 billion from taxpayers — snuck into a bill most Americans will never read.

Congress already handed ICE $75 billion last year with no meaningful oversight. Now Republicans want another $60 billion — again with no reforms — while padding the bill with a nine-figure renovation project for the president's personal use.

Taxpayers deserve better than backdoor bailouts dressed up as border security.
