His actions that day saved countless lives and earned him the Navy Cross, the third-highest combat honor in the United States Navy. Recently, news surfaced about the proposal to rename the aircraft carrier, initially intended to honor Doris Miller, to Donald Trump—a man who has no history of military service. Stripping this honor from Doris Miller feels like a disservice to those who paved our history through courage and selflessness.
