Stop Regionalization of Trenton Water Works

The Issue

I am a resident and taxpayer of Trenton and oppose NJDEP and Mayor Reed Gusciora’s proposal to regionalize Trenton Water Works (TWW) or the city’s Department of Water.

This plan would allow mayors from Ewing, Hamilton, Lawrence, and Hopewell—who represent towns that are mere “ratepayers”—to have equal decision-making power over TWW alongside Trenton “taxpayers.”

Concerns include:

1.     Ownership: TWW is fully funded and owned by Trenton residents and taxpayers. Regionalization risks outsiders' control over Trenton’s assets.

2.     Revenue Impact: TWW generates upwards of $100 million annually, and sharing revenues does not benefit Trentonians and the City of Trenton.

3.     Economic Growth: TWW supports local jobs and infrastructure projects vital to Trenton’s economy.

4.     Who Benefits: The other four (4) municipalities without the default risk, debt obligation, improving TWW’s water quality, or directly helping Trenton residents and taxpayers.

Regionalization prioritizes the well-being and quality of life for other municipalities without improving TWW’s water quality or directly helping Trenton residents and taxpayers. Trenton residents and taxpayers oppose this plan.

My signature attests I have not signed, and will not sign, any other Trenton Water Works Regionalization Petition.
