Stop Re-Zoning for Short-Term Rentals

The Issue

Petition for Request of Denial for Zoning Action

The following property owners request that the zoning action for 301 Hanley Circle, Brandon, MS be denied.

This property has been functioning as an Airbnb for the past 3 or more years. Many problems have been incurred during this time period:

• This is a residential neighborhood, not a commercial property. We like to know our neighbors and we watch out for one another –impossible to do with a constant flow of unknowns.
• Too many vehicles for the space allowed causing traffic congestion on the street/in the yard.
• Large vehicles parked overnight(s) on the street – ex. multiple large FedX trucks, large utility vehicles with long trailers, multiple cars/trucks. Companies/businessesobviously using this as a hotel because they can get multiple workers in one house cheaper than in multiple hotel rooms.
• Late night parties involving large groups of people who are not the renters.
• Usage of the home as a venue to host large groups of people, creating excess noise, traffic, and people gathered in the street.
• Impossible to know if strange cars in the area are a cause for concern (casing out the neighborhood with the intent of committing a crime, robbery, etc.) or just the current renters.
• Loud music from the many vehicles at all hours.
• Unvetted people.
• Safety of neighborhood children due to the excess traffic and strangers.

Please help us stop this from becoming an allowable use of property in our neighborhood.
