I was in the High Court yesterday:

After months of Tory stonewalling we learnt three shocking things already today about the Government's approach:

1: In February officials looked at the site and recommended to the Home Secretary that she *immediately*: “stop work on RAF Scampton… notify the local authority…and note the significant challenges to progress and the local development plan”. She ignored them.

2: Away from the public the Govt are arguing they do not even have to *consider* the local plan for £300 million: they want to cost Lincoln and Scampton thousands of jobs without any assessment of the damage. They claim it's an emergency... even Tory MPs say that's not true.

Labour tabled an amendment to the immigration bill precisely to avoid the Tories riding roughshod over local people like this. Local Conservatives voted against that. So much for “levelling up”.

3: Separately, the RAF say: “there is no guarantee of a sustainable heritage focussed future” for Scampton and are seeking permission to move the grave of the Dambuster's mascot. They are saying clearly they do not trust HO assurances about heritage.
