Stop Public Funding for Anti-Abortion Clinics in Gwinnett

The Issue

Gwinnett County is considering giving $450,000 in federal funding to Georgia Wellness Group—a faith-based organization that does not provide abortion services or referrals and was previously affiliated with the Obria network of crisis pregnancy centers.

This funding would support a new “maternity home” and limited pediatric services, but not comprehensive reproductive care. While the group offers ultrasounds and STI screenings, it does not provide full, evidence-based reproductive health services—and critics say it promotes a religious agenda under the guise of medical care.

Georgia already faces one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country, and many communities still lack access to real OB-GYN services. Public funds should be used to expand actual medical care, not to support centers that may delay or mislead people seeking time-sensitive healthcare.

We are urging the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to reject this funding proposal and redirect federal dollars toward evidence-based clinics that offer full-spectrum, unbiased reproductive and maternal care—especially in underserved areas.

The public deserves transparency and science-based healthcare—not ideology disguised as medicine.
