SUBJECT: PLEASE VOTE NO ON PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT Rezoning Case #23-07 Hearing on October 16, 2023
We are petitioning the Board of Supervisors to say NO to Case 23-07 and all that it represents.
This petition is being put forward to show the Board of Supervisors that Foothills residents are concerned about this proposed increase of homes and people in the Foothills community.
The present residents of the Foothills will be severely impacted by the development of the land as described below -
Case 23-07 development boundaries... North border is S Frontage Rd; East border is Avenue 15E; South border is E. 40th St; West border is Gravel Yard, Fortuna Wash. The proposed rezone land is considered a Wash because the water that sheds off the Gila Mountains flows to this land. I-8 rain water sheds to this land as well -it's the lowest lying land south of i8 at Ave 15E.
(see map - the checkered area is the SITEs they are talking about. The blue area is the FLOOD PLAIN that will run through all of this, which, as a private land owner YOU could not get insurance on.)
The land owner won Case 23-07 at the Sept 26th Planning & Zoning meeting, with 411 acres approved to build up to 2000 homes- those 2000 homes are 50 TIMES the density of existing zoning. (Current zoning is 1 home on 10 acres...soon to be 50 homes on 10 acres!).
This increase of residents will impact our traffic, our water supply, the sewer collection system (already in trouble) and our electrical supply.
The infrastructure of the Foothills - streets, stores, stop lights - is not capable of sustaining this influx of people.
This will prove to cause more hardship on all of residents who live and own property here now.
The signatures affixed here represent the residents of the Foothills who are against this zone change and impact on our community.
