Sadly, our trust has been betrayed. These companies, safeguarded by current Kentucky laws, are using their power to charge exorbitant prices, leaving families like ours to struggle under ever-increasing energy bills.

The current legal framework effectively allows these energy co-ops to manipulate charges under the guise of reevaluation. This means they can increase rates unjustly without significant oversight or accountability, exploiting the very community they are supposed to serve. Our families are being pushed to the brink as we are forced to sacrifice necessities to afford basic utilities.

A comprehensive review of the existing laws governing energy pricing in Kentucky is urgently needed. By implementing stricter regulations and oversight, we can ensure that co-op energy companies operate with transparency, conducting fair pricing that reflects true market conditions.

Statistics reveal that households in rural Kentucky, on average, pay a significantly larger percentage of their income on energy costs compared to urban areas. It's time to change this imbalance and prevent the continued exploitation of our community by holding these energy companies accountable to fair and just standards.
