Stop Previous Owners from Interacting with Rehabilitating Monkeys Kaka and Mit

The Issue

As an ardent lover of animals and advocate against their exploitation, it pains me to witness the truth behind the social media fame of the monkeys Kaka and Mit in Vietnam. These monkeys, once a part of a family that reaped compelling financial benefits through posting their interactions, are now in a rehabilitative facility. But even in this space conceptualized for their healing, their previous owners have been allowed continued access. This not only hinders their rehabilitation but also perpetuates their exploitation as their interactions are still being monetized on social media.

Monkeys, like humans, can suffer from psychological trauma. According to Primates Helping Primates, trauma often stems from the handling by humans, especially without expert knowledge or intent to rehabilitate (1). Kaka and Mit have already suffered enough from the hands of those who used them for gain; a continued association only exacerbates their recovery process in a place that seeks their restoration to a natural and healthy life.

This petition, thus, requests the facility and the relevant authorities to restrict the access of Kaka and Mit's previous owners. Their rehabilitation must be prioritized above all. We should not allow individuals to profit from these innocent creatures anymore, especially when their actions hamper the monkeys' recovery and psychological well-being.

In the interest of their welfare and rehabilitation, please take a moment to sign this petition and urge the authorities to intervene in this matter.
