For far too long, residents of Pound Bank Road have raised concerns about speeding, dangerous driving and the unsafe crossing at the mini roundabout joining Madresfield Road. Despite repeated reports and a number of serious incidents over the years, meaningful action has not been taken.

This petition calls on West Mercia Police to deploy a mobile speed enforcement unit on Pound Bank Road, particularly during peak traffic periods and late evenings when residents report speeding is at its worst. We also call on Worcestershire Highways to urgently review the Pound Bank/Madresfield crossing and install either traffic signals or a properly designed pedestrian refuge island that provides a safe place to cross.

The information they need is readily available. No monitoring is required. Just FOI the Police if you doubt us residents!

Over the last 12 months, this road has seen multiple serious incidents, including vehicles overturning, a dog being struck and ongoing reports of excessive speed. Residents should not have to wait for an even more serious incident before action is taken.

Despite concerns being raised with elected representatives and public authorities, many residents have been ignored. We believe it is now time for decisive action rather than further delay.

We also ask an important question. Mobile speed enforcement has been deployed in nearby Madresfield several times this year. What evidence led to that decision? How much has that enforcement cost, and how many offences have been detected? If there is sufficient justification for repeated enforcement there, why has Pound Bank Road, where residents have repeatedly reported speeding and dangerous driving, not received the same attention?

This is not about blaming motorists. It is about preventing collisions, protecting pedestrians, cyclists and families, and ensuring our community is treated with the same level of safety and enforcement as neighbouring roads.

We are asking West Mercia Police, Worcestershire Highways and our elected representatives to act now by:

Deploying regular mobile speed camera enforcement on Pound Bank Road.
Reviewing vehicle speeds and collision data.
Carrying out an urgent safety assessment of the Pound Bank/Madresfield crossing.
Installing either traffic lights or a properly designed pedestrian refuge island if the assessment supports it.
Publishing the evidence behind enforcement decisions across the local area so residents can understand how resources are being allocated.
Our community deserves to feel safe. We should not have to wait until someone is seriously injured or killed before meaningful action is taken.
