Stop Political Discrimination in Veterans' Healthcare

Stop Political Discrimination in Veterans' Healthcare
The Issue
Veterans have already given so much for our country. The care they receive from the Department of Veterans Affairs should be based on their needs — not their political beliefs or marital status.
But under new rules introduced by the VA, doctors, psychologists, and even social workers can now refuse to treat patients based on things like political affiliation or whether they’re married. These changes come from a Trump executive order and are already in effect in some facilities.
This is wrong. Healthcare should never be political. No veteran should have to wonder if they’ll be denied care because they’re a Democrat, a union member, or unmarried. No doctor should fear losing their job because of their beliefs or background.
These policies open the door to discrimination and erode trust in the very system meant to serve those who’ve served us. Veterans have earned their care — with their lives, their bodies, and their sacrifices. It’s our duty to protect that care from partisan interference.
We call on the Department of Veterans Affairs to immediately reverse these dangerous rules. Reinstate the non-discrimination protections that ensure every veteran — regardless of politics, identity, or marital status — can get the care they deserve.
Our veterans stood up for us. Now it’s time we stand up for them.
