STOP POLICE BRUTALITY; REFORM THE UNITED STATES POLICE SYSTEM

The Issue

in 2022, 1176 people were murdered by the police. in 2021, 1140 people were murdered by the police. In 2020, 1020 people were murdered by the police, with the highest rate of African-Americans being targeted during this time.

in 2020, the world faced a flame — the death of George Floyd, sparked an uproar amongst all of America — entire cities burned in the name of rights for the people. The protests continued worldwide; and an uproar for black lives was surging — and yet even after cities burned, they refused to change, and they will not change until the people force them to.

During the years between 2020 and 2023, 640 African-Americans were murdered by the police. A majority of them young boys and men.

Three years after the death of George Floyd, another black man was brutally murdered by the police on January 7, Tyre Nichols had a mandatory traffic stop and an unmarked vehicle pulled up. The police officers who were in hoodies and not their uniforms, then walked up to his car door, opened it and violently ripped him out, they started beating him, and tasing him and he resisted — he then ran, after one of the men had been pepper sprayed, and escaped their hands.

By the time he had been found, multiplw cops had alrwady found him, they started beating him; holding him up, punching — and continuously beating him for three minutes while he laid on the ground lifeless. During this time, they broke his neck, and continuously kicked his face in with their shoes. They beat him so bad that he was unrecognizable.

He was screaming and begging for his mother during this time, and reviewing footage we can see that one of the cops has intentionally hidden their body cam in their car — these videos are atrocious to watch, these acts defy humanity, they defy morality — and they tell us that we need to make change now, or this will keep happening to our brothers to our sisters, to our mothers and to our fathers.

This has happened to too many people, and it will continue to happen unless we try to fix it — please sign and share, this country needs change and if we all try maybe it will make a difference.

This goes out to RowVaughn Wells, I cannot imagine the pain that you are experiencing as a mother — we are standing by your side, and we are here to support you.

REFORM THE POLICE, SHOUT IT OUT.
