Petition updateSTOP OVERDEVELOPMENT IN HUNTINGTON!Town Supervisor Staff Scoffs at Citizen Input

In a recent meeting between civic leaders and Huntington Town Supervisor Ed Smyth, Smyth’s staff expressed contempt for citizen petitions. They actually said that they throw them in the garbage!

This is beyond unacceptable: it is a blatant violation of public trust!

Our Town Board is supposed to work for us, the residents:

  • Our taxes pay their salaries.
  • Our votes get officials elected.
  • Every single signature is that of a resident whose views should matter to our town government.
  • The Town’s Comprehensive Plan requires a citizens’ advisory board for plan updates — which is exactly what we are asking for!

But it seems that the supervisor’s office has forgotten these facts. Let’s remind them in no uncertain terms:

Please share our petition to help us get to our next milestone of 500 signatures. Soon enough we will have numbers they cannot simply dismiss!

Please write to the Town Board and let them know how you feel!
