Stop Overdevelopment in Bel Air — Protect Our Forests and Wildlife
The Issue
Stop Overdevelopment in Bel Air — Protect Our Forests and Wildlife
For years, Bel Air and surrounding areas in Harford County have seen a troubling trend: forests are being bulldozed, wildlife habitats are being destroyed, and massive new housing complexes are going up without proper infrastructure or community oversight.
As residents, we’ve seen:
- Deer, foxes, hawks, and other wildlife displaced or killed
- Natural buffers and green corridors replaced by concrete and strip malls
- Increased traffic, stormwater flooding, and air pollution
- Clear-cutting of trees with no meaningful replanting or mitigation
These decisions are made behind closed doors, driven by profit — not by what’s best for our environment, our wildlife, or the people who call Bel Air home.
We demand that Harford County officials and the Bel Air Planning Commission:
1. Implement an immediate moratorium on new large-scale residential or commercial developments until a full environmental impact assessment is conducted.
2. Require all future projects to include transparent public hearings with meaningful community input.
3. Protect and preserve remaining forested and wetland areas through conservation easements and zoning protections.
4. Adopt a tree ordinance that prevents mass clear-cutting and requires native replanting.
5. Work with local environmental groups to identify and safeguard key habitats and green corridors.
Once our natural spaces are gone — they are gone forever. This isn’t just about trees. It’s about our quality of life, our air and water, and the future we leave for the next generation.
Help us stand up for Bel Air. Sign this petition and share it with your friends, neighbors, and local representatives. Together, we can Keep Bel Air Wild. 🌲
