I'm an Australian activist standing against the relentless march of modernity, fervently advocating for the ban of AI and the shutdown of streaming services. With the rise of the Neom megacity project in Saudi Arabia, my mission to preserve a simpler existence faces its greatest challenge yet. This futuristic urban development not only represents a threat to my ideals of a world detoxed from extreme modernity but poses a significant risk to the delicate desert ecosystem.

Building a massive city in the barren heart of the desert will disrupt the fragile balance of nature. This area is home to unique wildlife, such as the Arabian sand gazelle and the oryx, whose habitats will be jeopardized by such an intrusive structure. Disturbing their environment could lead to lasting consequences, both for these creatures and the overall ecological health of the region. The megacity also threatens to overshadow the nation’s historical identity, steeped in rich traditions and a proud past.

The looming presence of Neom, an ultra-modern hub, stands in stark contrast to the Arabian Peninsula's traditional charm. My vision is for the city, if it must be built, to reflect more of the traditional Arabian town aesthetics or be significantly downsized. Allowing Neom to consume the landscape as planned would further alienate us from a nostalgic era, such as the late 1990s to early 2000s, when DVDs echoed throughout living rooms and technological simplicity reigned. it should be a traditional "Arabian nights" town with Human-Owned Bazaars, Sandstone buildings and camels as a major transportation option

Further, rather than focusing on an ultra-modern development, we can channel investments into making current technologies and resources like oil greener and more sustainable. Thus preserving the environment, cultural history, and our collective future. I'm calling on everyone who values these ideals to sign this petition. Together, we can urge Saudi Arabia to rethink the Neom project to preserve the delicate balance between progress and tradition.
