Stop opening the egress on Avenue H for Christmas light traffic

Stop opening the egress on Avenue H for Christmas light traffic
The Issue
For many in the community of the Avenues of H, Massena and Circle Drive (Tulita Estates) in Redondo Beach, CA, our neighborhood is not just a place we reside, it’s where our families thrive. We take pride in our tight-knit community, where our children play on the usually quiet and safe streets. However, the proposed opening of Avenue H as an egress (or removal of the West bound bollards) for the Torrance/Sleepy Hollow Christmas lights traffic threatens to disrupt the safety and peace we've cherished for years.
The Christmas Light Show, while a wonderful joyful tradition, draws thousands of spectators each year. Redirecting this significant influx of traffic through our cul-de-sacs—areas inherently designed to have limited and controlled traffic—poses grave concerns. Primarily, it threatens to funnel massive numbers of vehicles into small, residential areas not equipped to handle such a volume, thereby increasing the risk of accidents, traffic jams and police burden.
The additional congestion could make it difficult for emergency vehicles to swiftly navigate our streets in times of need. Moreover, the constant stream of cars idling and inching forward will contribute to air and noise pollution, severely impacting the tranquility and air quality that our families depend on. The well-being of our community, including vulnerable family members such as young children and elderly residents, is at risk.
We urge the Mayor and the council members to take these concerns seriously. The community's safety should be prioritized over convenience. Help us keep Avenue H a safe and serene haven for the families who call it home. Please sign this petition to stop the opening of Avenue H for Torrance/Sleepy Hollow Christmas light traffic. Together, we can preserve the peace and security of Redondo Beach’s treasured neighborhoods.
