OceanaGold, a multinational mining corporation, has been conducting mining operations in Nueva Vizcaya, causing significant environmental damage. The local ecosystem is suffering due to deforestation and water pollution. This not only impacts the biodiversity of the region but also affects local communities who rely on these resources for their livelihoods. Furthermore, Oceana's Financial or Technical Assistance Agreement (FTTA) for 2021 allows them to continue these destructive practices unchecked.

We support Bishop Elmer Mangalinao, the Didipio Earth Savers Multipurpose Association (DESAMA) and Alyansa ng Magsasaka para sa Kalikasan ng Kasibu (AMKKAS) in their petition for certiorari and mandamus to cancel the 2021 renewal of the financial or technical assistance agreement (FTAA) issued to OceanaGold for violating the constitutional guarantee of local autonomy as well as failure to conduct prior consultation and a new environmental impact assessment.

We demand an immediate halt to all of OceanaGold’s mining operations in Nueva Vizcaya NOW! This will protect our environment from further harm and safeguard the rights of local communities. We urge relevant authorities to take immediate action against this corporate exploitation.
