STOP Nova Hreod Academy’s militant uniform standards

The Issue

When did school uniform become more important than allowing students to ‘have limitless potential’ as suggested by our new principal, James Harding-Mbogo?

Recently, Nova Hreod’s uniform policy has converted into a strict system reminding many of a military service. Students and parents have been severely affected. Numerous stories this week tell how children have been sent home and denied their education due to wearing the wrong coloured socks! How does this support our learning, self confidence and trust in ‘our expert teachers’?

We as scholars are here to learn. We and our carers should not be burdened, troubled or anxious simply due to what we are wearing. We understand the need for a school uniform but these changes encourage students to feel negative towards not only the uniform itself but also the school.

Up until this new academic year, there have been little to no uniform regulation issues that we have been made aware of. These new changes have forced many carers into spending additional and unnecessary amounts of money on uniform specific to the new rules which were published too late.

Sign this petition to show your support with your student voice that the new school uniform policy should be considerate of the students actually wearing it.
