Stop New Tests in Lindale Honors Biology

Stop New Tests in Lindale Honors Biology
The Issue
In my journey through Honors Biology at Lindale, TX, I’ve found myself on the brink of missing the threshold that exempts us from finals due to just one test. This test, which has never been conducted by our teacher in previous classes, threatens not only my academic standing but the stress levels of fellow students.
Our biology teacher, known for a fair and consistent teaching approach, has never administered this particular test in past years. Despite this, it has suddenly been introduced this year, placing undue pressure on students. It seems unfair to change long-established norms without prior explanation or adjustment period.
The stakes are high—not just for me, but for many students who, like me, find themselves at risk of unnecessary stress. One poor test grade could mean facing a final exam we worked hard to avoid by maintaining a good GPA. The inconsistency is particularly troubling given that other honors biology classes have not been subjected to this last-minute change in the curriculum.
This unexpected test serves no benefit and disrupts the flow of a tried-and-tested educational system. We believe that neither our grades nor our mental well-being should be gambled with such impromptu decisions.
Given the proven track record of previous classes in achieving academic goals without this test, it is in the best interest of student welfare and fairness that we maintain the teaching practices that have served so well in the past.
I urge students, parents, and community members to raise their voices against this unnecessary addition. Let us advocate for an educational environment that prioritizes consistency and fairness in its assessment policies.
Please join us in asking the Lindale Honors Biology faculty to reconsider and halt the administration of this test. Sign this petition to help maintain integrity and student well-being in our education system.
